Summer is here, and keeping kids reading during the break is one of the best ways to prevent the "summer slide" while encouraging imagination, learning, and creativity.
The good news? Several national programs are rewarding kids with FREE books, pizza, prizes, and reading incentives throughout the summer.
Here are some of the best free summer reading programs available in 2026.

🎨 Make Reading Creative
Reading doesn't have to happen only indoors.
Try:
• reading at the park
• family reading challenges
• reading before bed
• book-themed crafts
• creating stories and illustrations together
At All Children's Art Center of NJ, we love encouraging creativity in all forms, whether through art, theater, storytelling, or summer adventures.
A great book can inspire a painting, a play, a puppet show, or an entirely new world of imagination.
Happy reading and happy summer! ☀️📚
